Willow Emerald Damselfly 1m. Present for second day, first seen 26/8/22 by Gill Holliday, Steve Holliday. On both days it was perched on bare branches of small ash seedlings. A first for the site.

Common Darter : 3 pairs in tandem with the females ovipositing in my garden pond

A female Common Darter was ovipositing in my garden pond today, first in tandem with the male, then with the male guarding her. There was another male around as well. That's the third species which has laid eggs in the pond (that I know of, anyway).

Some belated records for Willow Emerald Damselfly have been submitted to iRecord by Jake Dudderidge from the University Parks, seen and photographed on 8 September and 9 October 2021.
Location given as SP51740752 - which corresponds to the pond in the north-east corner, near the River Cherwell.
2-3 Red-eyed Damselfly (floating vegetation/algal mats less extensive than previous years and again no sign of any Small Red-eyes at this site)
